Kathmandu: Minister for Communications and Information Technology, Jagadish Kharel, has stated that his visit to the ‘Seoul AI Smart City Centre’ in South Korea has invigorated his efforts in advancing Nepal’s AI sector. After touring the facilities operated by the Seoul AI Foundation, he highlighted the potential of AI in propelling the nation towards prosperity through technological advancements.
According to National News Agency Nepal, Minister Kharel expressed that the visit provided him with fresh energy and motivation to bolster AI initiatives in Nepal. The delegation from Nepal, led by Minister Kharel, explored several features of the AI City and AI Centre, examining ongoing projects and partnerships. He remarked that the insights gained from the visit would be crucial in establishing a robust AI centre in Nepal.
Beyond the site visit, Minister Kharel engaged in productive discussions with local officials and AI experts about the potential and future trajectory of AI technology. These discussions took place during a forum co-organized by Korea’s Ministry of Science and ICT (MSIT) and the National Information Society Agency (NIA). Minister Kharel noted that the Leadership Forum offered valuable insights and was instrumental in advancing the Digital Nepal initiative and furthering digital transformation goals.
The delegation’s visit to South Korea was part of a broader agenda to attend the 11th ‘Global ICT Leadership Forum’ in Seoul, which commenced on November 11 under Minister Kharel’s leadership.
