Kathmandu: The Investment Board is set to approve the investment for the Betan Karnali Semi-Reservoir-based Hydropower Project, which has a capacity of 439 megawatts. The decision was made during the 67th meeting of the Board, presided over by Prime Minister and Investment Board Chairperson Sushila Karki. The meeting focused on advancing the semi-reservoir project with an estimated investment of Rs 93 billion and 407.6 million.
According to National News Agency Nepal, the Board has decided to form a talks committee to facilitate the Project Development Agreement (PDA). The meeting also reviewed the progress of the Investment Board’s Office during the previous fiscal year 2081/82 BS and endorsed the annual action plan for the current fiscal year 2082/83 BS.
The Chief Executive Officer of the Investment Board has been granted the authority to endorse the draft of the production license for the Lower Arun Hydropower Project, which has a capacity of 669 megawatts, and to issue the license accordingly. In addition, the meeting resolved to present a proposal to the Cabinet for the approval of a direct agreement concerning the Arun-3 Hydropower Project, which has a capacity of 900 megawatts.
Furthermore, the Prime Minister’s Office announced that the Board has decided to extend the timeline for the survey license of the West Seti Reservoir-based Hydropower Project, which has a capacity of 800 megawatts.
