Holding Elections in Slated Date Is Government’s Key Responsibility, Home Minister Says


Kathmandu: Home Minister Om Prakash Aryal has stated that conducting the elections to the House of Representatives (HoR) on the scheduled date, in a peaceful manner, is the principal responsibility of the government.



According to National News Agency Nepal, Minister Aryal emphasized the importance of a committed approach from all agencies under the Home Ministry during a review meeting of the first quarter of the current fiscal year. He instructed these agencies to seriously prepare for the upcoming polls.



Minister Aryal expressed gratitude towards the Ministry of Finance for allocating the necessary budget and programs for the elections, which are set for March 5, 2026. He also pledged to implement recommendations from the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers, National Planning Commission, Finance Ministry, and Ministry of Federal Affairs.



Furthermore, Minister Aryal urged officials to enhance public service delivery through simplified electronic mediums, addressing expectations raised by recent Gen-Z protests. He instructed ministry officials to regularly review internal progress to meet annual plans and key milestones.



During the meeting, Home Secretary Rameshwor Dangal highlighted the necessity of basing work execution on good governance and transparency. He called upon the Department of National ID and Civil Registration to improve their services, as their performance directly reflects the Home Ministry’s efficiency.
