Lalitpur: Prime Minister Sushila Karki has announced that the government is currently dedicated to implementing its two primary agendas: the establishment of good governance and the successful conduction of elections. Addressing the 107th establishment day of Lalitpur Metropolitan City, the Prime Minister emphasized the government’s commitment to intensive preparations for the House of Representatives (HoR) election scheduled for March 5, 2026. This election follows the special circumstances that arose after the Gen Z movement on September 8-9.
According to National News Agency Nepal, the Prime Minister expressed the government’s eagerness to transfer executive power to a new government formed in accordance with the election mandate. She urged all citizens to contribute to ensuring that the election is conducted in a free, fair, impartial, and cost-effective manner. Highlighting the significance of elections, she stated, “Elections are the sole alternative to move the nation forward on the path of democratic
values and good governance in a constitutional way.”
The Prime Minister also stressed the need to prevent anarchic activities in society, assuring that the security administration is capable and proactive in combating threats to peace and security. She highlighted the crucial role of the community in resisting disruptive forces and called for collective efforts to establish peace and good governance.
During the event, Lalitpur Metropolitan City Mayor Chiri Babu Maharjan sought the support of Gen Z groups to ensure the success of the elections. Deputy Mayor Manjali Shakya Bajracharya reflected on the contributions of various individuals in shaping the metropolis. Additionally, Rato Bangala School and Nira Rajyalaxmi Rana, recognized as the highest taxpayers of the metropolis, were honored at the ceremony.
