Siraha: A memorandum has been submitted to Finance Minister Rameshore Prasad Khanal, demanding the upgradation of the Chhoti customs office located at Bariyarpatti rural municipality-3 in Siraha district. This move comes as part of a broader effort by local communities and representatives to enhance the infrastructure and operations of the customs office.

According to National News Agency Nepal, the memorandum was presented during a programme organised to hand over the land of the Lahan-based Ram Kumar Sharada Uma Prasad Murarka Provincial Hospital. The memo was submitted by locals, people’s representatives, and Gen Z youths, who have been advocating for the development of the customs office. Shiba Yadav and Santosh Yadav, representing the Gen Z youths, personally handed over the memo to Finance Minister Khanal.

In the submission, Santosh Yadav expressed the long-standing efforts by the youth to upgrade the Bariyapatti customs office. He emphasized the potential benefits for citizens and businesspersons that would follow the commencement of four-wheeler operations at the customs. The memo specifically calls for the customs office not to be closed but rather to be upgraded through the construction of necessary physical infrastructures. It also urges immediate action to facilitate the operation of four-wheelers, indicating a significant enhancement in the customs office’s functionality and service delivery.
