Foreign Investment Commitments Surpass Rs 39 Billion in Six Months


Kathmandu: The country has received foreign investment commitments worth Rs 39 billion 236 million 164 thousand from development partners in the first six months of the current fiscal year.



According to National News Agency Nepal, in the first half of the fiscal year, investment commitments were made in 475 industries, with Rs 35 billion 137 million 786 thousand committed in the initial three months for 311 industries. This data is highlighted in the Annual Report on Foreign Direct Investment issued by the Department.



The report outlines that foreign direct investment commitments have been received for seven large, eight medium, and 460 small industries. Specifically, in the month of Poush, investments worth Rs 5 billion 995 million were committed to 36 small industries.



Overall, the total foreign direct investment commitment has reached Rs 675 billion 433 million 300 thousand across 7,713 industries. The information technology sector attracted the highest commitments, with Rs 1 billion 78 million 486 thousand pledged for 257 industries.



In terms of monetary value, Rs 21 billion 888 million was committed to 13 agriculture-based industries. The tourism sector saw commitments of Rs 10 billion 542 million 50 thousand across 145 industries. Other sectors included the production sector with Rs 2 billion 302 million 300 thousand for 27 industries, the energy sector with Rs 184 million 250 thousand for one industry, the mining sector with Rs 45 million for one industry, and the service sector with Rs 3 billion 466 million for 31 industries.
