Kathmandu: The Nepal Police apprehended three individuals at Tribhuvan International Airport with 28,900 US dollars in their possession on Thursday.
According to National News Agency Nepal, the arrested individuals are Anita Lama, 45, from Nagarjun municipality-1 in Kathmandu; Sangita Lama, 38, from Sunkoshi rural municipality-6 in Sindhupalchowk; and Binod Lama, 47, from Lishshankhupakhar rural municipality-7 in Sindhupalchowk. Raj Kumar Silwal, Spokesperson at TIA Security Office, stated that the money was discovered during hand baggage screening and frisking as the trio prepared to board a flight to Guangzhou, China.
The police confiscated 10,000 US dollars in 100-dollar denominations from both Anita and Sangita, and 8,900 US dollars in 100-dollar denominations from Binod. The individuals have been handed over to the Department of Revenue Investigation in Lalitpur for further investigation and potential legal proceedings.
