Kathmandu: The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority (NDRRMA) has issued a warning to the public, urging them to take necessary precautions due to the forecast of heavy rains and storms over the next three days.
According to National News Agency Nepal, the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology has predicted significant rainfall and snowfall in the hilly and mountainous regions of the Karnali and Sudurpaschim Provinces. Additionally, high-speed winds are expected to impact areas including Dang, Nepalgunj, and the Tarai regions of Lumbini Province.
The Department has specified that winds reaching speeds of up to 119 kilometers per hour are anticipated in Biratnagar, Dhankuta, Dharan, and nearby districts until Saturday. The potential impact of these winds includes risks to various structures and possible disruptions to electricity and communication services.
Ram Bahadur KC, Under-Secretary at NDRRMA, has advised residents in the affected areas to minimize travel, seek safer locations, and refrain from operating vehicles to prevent damages and injuries.
