Kathmandu: Ambassador of Switzerland to Nepal, Danielle Meuwly, paid a courtesy call on Home Minister Sudhan Gurung.
According to National News Agency Nepal, during a meeting held at the Ministry, Ambassador Meuwly extended her wishes to Home Minister Gurung for a successful term. The meeting focused on strengthening bilateral cooperation, especially in areas of financial transparency and accountability.
Home Minister Gurung emphasized the importance of collaboration between Nepal and Switzerland in investigating allegations against high-ranking Nepali officials involved in unlawfully amassing wealth. He requested the Swiss Ambassador to consider initiatives that would facilitate cooperation in probing whether officials have deposited money earned through corruption in Swiss banks. Minister Gurung also urged for arrangements to be made for the return of any discovered funds to Nepal.
Ambassador Meuwly acknowledged Minister Gurung’s extensive experience and contributions to disaster management. She committed to enhancing Swiss collaboration with Nepal to bolster early warning systems aimed at mitigating the impacts of climate change and natural disasters.
