Saptari:Flooding in the Saptakoshi River has inundated over 500 houses in the region, displacing numerous families.
According to National News Agency Nepal, the coastal areas of Hanumannagar Kankalini Municipality have been severely affected, with 380 houses in Ward No. 5 and 150 houses in Gobargadha of Ward No. 13 submerged. Additionally, Tilathi Koiladi Rural Municipality has seen 27 houses flooded.
Every monsoon season, this area experiences significant flooding that submerges homes and destroys property. Aarti Devi Sada, a local resident, expressed the community’s plight, noting the lack of alternatives for relocation.
Mayor Birendra Majhi of Hanuman Nagar Kankalini Municipality confirmed that flooding has displaced over 500 families. The municipality has responded by providing two meals a day to 154 families in Wards No. 7 and 5, as cooking at home is currently not possible.
Arun Kumar Mandal, Chairperson of Tilathi Koiladi Rural Municipality, reported that the flooding from the Koshi River has affected 27 houses in Wards 4, 5, and 11 of the rural municipality.
