Manang:An avalanche on Mt Himlung in Narpa Bhumi Rural Municipality-5, Manang, has raised concerns about potential casualties.
According to National News Agency Nepal, twelve individuals from a group of 22, which included nine mountaineers and 13 support staff, are feared missing. The group was in the area preparing for an expedition.
Chief District Officer Mukti Prasad Khanal noted that a rescue helicopter dispatched from Kathmandu was unable to land in Manang due to poor weather conditions, leaving the extent of the avalanche’s impact uncertain at this time.
In a related incident, a landslide at the Mt Lamjung base camp has blocked the Ghatte Khola stream in Chame Rural Municipality-4. Consequently, residents from Wards 3, 4, and 5 have been evacuated to the Nepali Army barrack premises for safety.
