Ljubljana:Kathmandu Minister for Foreign Affairs Shisir Khanal has highlighted Nepal’s significant achievements at the 81st United Nations General Assembly, emphasizing the country’s interests and diplomatic image.
According to National News Agency Nepal, Foreign Minister Khanal, upon his return at Tribhuvan International Airport, expressed his commitment to enhancing Nepal’s diplomatic stature and attracting international attention. He noted the positive reception from the global community regarding Nepal’s contributions and statements during various UNGA events and discussions.
Prime Minister Balendra Shah’s address at the General Assembly, coupled with Khanal’s participation in bilateral and multilateral meetings, was acknowledged as boosting Nepal’s diplomatic image. The minister revealed that over 33 bilateral meetings were conducted, which he believes will strengthen Nepal’s international relations.
Khanal underscored the firm foundation laid at the UNGA to promote Nepal’s national interests, particularly emphasizing climate justice on a global platform. He noted the international praise Nepal received for its clear stance on national issues, including the Bhotekoshi flood.
Prime Minister Shah addressed the impact of climate change on Nepal and other affected countries, drawing significant global attention during and after his speech. Khanal reiterated the focus on Nepal’s national interest throughout their participation at the General Assembly.
