Jakarta:A donation totaling Rs 3,547,536 was handed over to Finance Minister Dr. Swarnim Wagle by three organizations aiming to aid citizens displaced by the floods in the Bhotekoshi River of Rasuwa District, Nepal.
According to National News Agency Nepal, the Japan Nepal Society (JNS), the JICA Alumni Association of Nepal (JAAN), and the Institution for Suitable Actions for Prosperity (ISAP) voluntarily collected and donated the funds. The contributions were made in response to the Nepali government’s appeal for assistance.
The JNS, Tokyo, contributed Rs 2,226,560; JAAN donated Rs 1,011,705; and ISAP offered Rs 309,271. The total amount was delivered by a team led by Dr. Ram Chandra Bhusal, President of JAAN, to be deposited into the Prime Minister’s Disaster Relief Fund.
Previously, Loknath Devkota, a life member of JAAN, contributed Rs 5 million to the relief efforts. Dr. Bhusal emphasized the organizations’ longstanding commitment to supporting Nepal-Japan relations and highlighted their history of humanitarian efforts.
Finance Minister Dr. Wagle expressed gratitude for the support and acknowledged the ongoing partnership with these organizations. The Japan Nepal Society, through a letter, conveyed deep sorrow over the flood’s impact and reaffirmed its solidarity with Nepal.
JAAN has a history of facilitating aid during crises, exemplified by its fundraising efforts during the 2011 Japan earthquake and the 2015 Nepal earthquake. Currently, JNS is involved in the Agriculture Promotion Project in Nepal through ISAP, focusing on community development and income enhancement in rural areas.
