Jakarta:Tanahu Floods and landslides following heavy rainfall from September 25 to 27 have significantly impacted the infrastructure in Tanahu district, including houses, roads, bridges, and essential services.
According to National News Agency Nepal, the District Disaster Management Committee has reported that several suspension and concrete bridges, culverts, and roads have been damaged at various locations. The committee, led by Chairperson Shiva Lal Tiwari, has urged relevant authorities to expedite the reconstruction and maintenance of these damaged structures.
Five suspension bridges have been completely destroyed, leaving locals and students with difficulties crossing rivers. The affected bridges include one linking Ghiring rural municipality and Rampur municipality of Palpa, another connecting Atrauli of Ghiring-1 with Kasiban, as well as bridges linking Mandar of Baudikali rural municipality-2 with Kharsangghat, Karuwatar with Maitighat-Machedi, and Devghat rural municipality-2 with Bulingtar rural municipality-1 of Nawalpur. Additionally, three other suspension bridges and the Kaligandaki Mandar-Kharsangghat motorable bridge have suffered partial damages.
Two culverts were also damaged in the district. Tiwari emphasized the urgent need to prioritize the reconstruction and maintenance of roads, bridges, and other public structures to restore normalcy.
