Two persons, including an un-identified woman, were killed and more than five persons were injured in a road accident in Jalsuka area, about 18 kilometers west off from here on Netrakona-Mymensingh highway today.
Police and witnesses said, the accident occurred when a Mymensingh-bound CNG-run auto-rickshaw from Netrakona collided head-on with a Netrakona-bound passenger bus from Mymensingh, leaving five passengers including the driver of the CNG-run auto-rickshaw injured critically.
Local people rushed to the scene and sent the injured persons to Mymensingh medical college hospital where attending doctors declared the CNG-run auto-rickshaw driver Ekramul Mia, 40, the woman aged 40 as dead, the sources said.
Officer-in-charge (OC) of the Purbadhala police station Mohammad Saiful Islam told BSS that police seized both the vehicles.
The driver of the bus, however, managed to flee the scene, the OC added.
