Thimpu: The Nepali women football team faced a significant defeat against defending champion North Korea in the final match of Group ‘A’ held in Thimpu, Bhutan. North Korea scored 11 goals, while Nepal failed to score in the AFC Women’s U20 Asian Cup Qualifiers.
According to National News Agency Nepal, this defeat means Nepal is now out of the selection round for the AFC Women’s U20 Asian Cup Qualifiers. North Korea, having secured nine points from three matches, emerged victorious. The North Korean team scored five goals in the first half and added six more in the second half.
Earlier in the tournament, North Korea had impressive victories, defeating Saudi Arabia 15-0 in the first match and Bhutan 10-0 in the second match. Nepal’s loss on Sunday means they will not qualify for the AFC Asian Cup scheduled to be held in Thailand next year.
