Bar Election Vote Counting Set to Begin at Noon


Kathmandu: The counting of votes for the 27th Central Working Committee (CWC) of The Nepal Bar Association (NBA) is scheduled to commence at 12:00 noon today. The voting process, which took place on Saturday, aimed to establish the new working committee of the Bar.



According to National News Agency Nepal, Chief Electoral Officer Senior Advocate Ram Krishna Nirala confirmed that ballot boxes have been transported to Kathmandu from various voting stations outside the valley. A total of 9,957 eligible voters participated in the election, with an 80 percent voter turnout recorded. The election saw 57 candidates competing for positions on the 25-member working committee, with voting conducted at 36 polling stations both in Kathmandu and beyond.



The race for the chairmanship features senior advocates Prof Dr Bijay Prasad Mishra and Raman Kumar Shrestha. Senior advocate Kedar Prasad Koirala has been nominated for the post of general secretary on Mishra’s panel, while advocate Yagya Mani Neupane has filed his candidacy on Shrestha’s panel.
