Kathmandu: Three of the dead bodies retrieved following the Bhotekoshi flood and brought to the Pokhara Academy of Health Sciences have been identified. According to National News Agency Nepal, the body of Yadav Bhandari, 37, an immigration officer at Timure of Rasuwa, was identified by his elder brother, Chudamani Bhandari. Yadav Bhandari hailed from Susta Rural Municipality-1.
Similarly, another body retrieved from the Devchuli area of Nawalparasi was identified as Narayan Thapa, 47, a teacher at Neelkantha Secondary School in Betrawati, Rasuwa. His spouse, Kamala Thapa, identified him. Narayan Thapa was from Panini Rural Municipality-7 in Arghakhanchi.
The third body, found in Dhading, was identified as Satya Sundar Prajapati, 36, from Bhaktapur Municipality-9. His younger brother, Satya Krishna Prajapati, confirmed the identity, and the body was handed over to the family.
A total of 102 bodies retrieved from the Trishuli and Narayani River banks in Dhading, Gorkha, Tanahu, and Nawalparasi following the Bhotekoshi flash flood were brought to the Pokhara Academy of Health Sciences for post-mortem examinations. As of Friday evening, fingerprinting and cleanliness procedures have been completed for 57 bodies, and post-mortem examinations were underway, said assistant chief district officer Chitrangat Baral.
The process of identifying the remaining bodies is ongoing. Relatives of the missing people who have arrived in search of their loved ones have been provided with free food and accommodation.
