Janak Purdham: The first day of the week-long Ramjanaki Bibahpanchami Mahamahotsav has concluded with the traditional Nagar Darshan, or city observation, in the courtyard of the Janaki Temple. Devotees and pilgrims flocked to the temple courtyard, eager to witness the annual ritual that marks Lord Rama and Lakshmana’s first visit to Janakpurdham, the ancient capital of Mithila.
According to National News Agency Nepal, the Nagar Darshan ritual involved two children representing Ram and Lakshman being paraded around the city. This ritual is a significant part of the Bibaha Panchami festival, drawing devotees from various districts across the country and neighboring India.
The Bibaha Panchami festival is celebrated annually in Janakpurdham to commemorate the marriage of Sita, daughter of King Janak of Mithila, to Ram. This festival holds religious, cultural, and social importance and has commenced with grandeur this year, marking the beginning of a vibrant week of festivities.
