Kanchanpur: The family of Bipin Joshi, who is believed to have been held captive by Hamas for the past two years, remains hopeful for his safe return. The Israel-based Nepali Embassy facilitated a video conference to discuss Bipin’s status with his family, who were informed about recent developments.
According to National News Agency Nepal, during the video conference, Kishor Joshi, a family member, stated that the Israeli Defense Force (IDF), on behalf of the Israeli government, informed them that Bipin’s name was not included in a list of 20 people set to be released. Despite this, the family was assured of regular updates regarding any progress in Bipin’s case.
Kishor expressed that the family continues to hold onto hope for Bipin’s safe return. Participants in the video conference included Bipin’s family from Bhimdatta municipality-3 in Kanchanpur, his mother and younger sister from the United States, Israeli representatives, and officials from the Nepali Embassy in Israel.
Over the past two years, following a ceasefire and the exchange of hostages between Israel and Hamas, more than 200 individuals have been released by Hamas. Bipin’s family, alongside the government, has been actively working toward securing his safe return. While his mother and sister have sought international support in the USA, his father, Mahananda Joshi, remains at home, awaiting the return of his son, who has been missing for over two years.
