Kathmandu: The Ministry of Health and Population has urged all health institutions to align their salary structures, services, and facilities with government standards.
According to National News Agency Nepal, Dr. Prakash Budhathoki, the spokesperson for the Ministry, stated that a circular had already been issued to all government hospitals, institutions, medical colleges, and community and private hospitals. This directive is aimed at ensuring that nurses and health workers receive salaries and incentives equivalent to those provided by the government.
The Ministry reiterated this directive after observing that some health institutions had not implemented it. Nurses at the Manipal Teaching Hospital in Pokhara are currently agitated, demanding salaries as determined by the government. Dr. Budhathoki mentioned that they have been instructed to provide additional allowances for those working extra hours.
Further instructions include prohibiting institutions from retaining the original educational certificates of their employees and banning the recruitment of human resources on daily wages. The Ministry also reminded institutions to adopt a banking system for salary disbursement.
