Dhaka: Bangladesh Police Service Association (BPSA) and Bangladesh Police Association have issued separate statements condemning a recent anti-state statement and conspiracy by former Inspector General of Police (IGP) Benazir Ahmed.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the BPSA expressed their strong disapproval of Benazir’s actions, highlighting his loyalty to the previous Awami League government. The BPSA statement, signed by President Md. Matiur Rahman Sheikh and General Secretary Md. Anisuzzaman, emphasized the anger and rejection felt by police members towards Benazir’s actions. The statement noted that the controversial remarks, which have gained attention on social media, were not acceptable to the police force.
The BPSA reiterated their determination to ensure justice for those involved in past government actions, emphasizing their commitment to creating a just society following the mass uprising of 2024. The organization also highlighted the ongoing efforts of police members to maintain law and order and support the current government’s directives.
In a similar vein, the Bangladesh Police Association (BPA) also released a statement condemning Benazir Ahmed. Signed by President Kamrul Hasan Talukder and General Secretary Monirul Haque Dablu, the BPA called for exemplary punishment for Benazir’s alleged offenses.
