Dolpa: Nar Bahadur Jhakri of CPN (Maoist Centre) has been elected chairperson of Tripurasundari municipality-5 in Dolpa district.
According to National News Agency Nepal, Jhakri was elected to the post with 161 votes in the by-election held on Sunday. His nearest rival, Nar Bahadur Roka of the CPN (UML), received 116 votes, as reported by the District Election Office.
The post of ward chairperson had become vacant following the death of Nanda Lal Roka, who was elected as chairperson from the CPN (UML) during the local-level election held in 2079 BS. Roka passed away due to illness.
