Kalikot: Khadkaraj Shahi of Nepal Workers and Peasants Party has won the by-election held today for the post of Chair of Tilagufa Rural Municipality ward no-4 of Kalikot. Shahi secured a total of 143 votes, surpassing his closest competitor, Naishobha Shahi from the CPN (Maoist Centre), who received 115 votes, as reported by chief returning officer Ananda Raj Pant.
According to National News Agency Nepal, Ain Bahadur Shahi of CPN (UML) garnered 78 votes, while Pail Bahadur Shahi of Nepali Congress secured 49 votes. Additionally, Gogan Bahadur Shahi of Rastriya Prajatantra Party obtained 17 votes, and Gagan Bam of Rastriya Swatantra Party received five votes in the by-election.
Out of a total of 609 registered voters, 411, accounting for 67.48 percent, participated in the election. Among the voters, 217 were women and 194 were men. The by-election was necessitated following the death of Par Bahadur Shahi, who had previously won as a Maoist Centre candidate in the local elections held in 2079 BS, due to a lan
dslide.
