Kathmandu: The decisions of the meetings of the Council of Ministers held on November 25 and November 29 were made public on Sunday. Making the cabinet decisions public, Minister for Communications and Information Technology Prithvi Subba Gurung announced several key agreements and approvals.
According to National News Agency Nepal, the cabinet has approved a framework agreement on fiscal mobilization under the public investment financing of the Government of Finland. Additionally, the cabinet has granted permission for the utilization of national forest areas for various projects, including power transmission line development.
The meeting also sanctioned the study visit of Mayor Dhanraj Acharya of Pokhara Metropolitan City to South Korea, focusing on waste management practices. Furthermore, the cabinet approved a financial package consisting of 22 million US dollars in grants and 10 million US dollars in loan assistance from the Asian Development Bank for the Climate Resilient Landscapes and Livelihoods Pr
oject.
Spokesperson Gurung detailed that the cabinet decided to accept 110 million US dollars in subsidized loans and 15 million US dollars in grants from the Asian Development Bank for the Mechanized Irrigation Innovation Project. Moreover, the cabinet approved the India visit of Minister for Industry, Commerce and Supplies Damodar Bhandari to attend the 29th Partnership Summit in New Delhi.
In domestic economic measures, the government has set the minimum support price for sugarcane at Rs 585 per quintal, accounting for production, transportation costs, and profits. The cabinet also endorsed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the International Water Management Institute and approved another MoU with The International Centre for Research in Agroforestry and the Centre for International Forestry Research.
Finally, Spokesperson Gurung noted that the cabinet endorsed the government delegation to accompany Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli on his official visit to China from December 2-5.
