Davos: The Munich Security Conference Chairman, Ambassador Christoph Heusgen, today called on Bangladesh Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum meeting in the Swiss city of Davos. Ambassador Heusgen extended an invitation to the Chief Adviser to attend the prominent annual security conclave set to take place in Munich, Germany, in February.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the discussion between the two dignitaries covered several critical issues, including the July uprising, Bangladesh’s relationship with neighboring countries, the ongoing Rohingya crisis, and the proliferation of misinformation online. Ambassador Heusgen emphasized the role of online platforms like Facebook in spreading fake news about Bangladesh.
He proposed that Bangladesh could consider adopting legislation similar to European countries to mandate content verification by online platforms. The meeting was also attended by Lutfey Siddiqi, Special Envoy of the Chief Adviser, and Lamiya Morshed, SDG coordinator.
