Kathmandu: The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) has filed a charge-sheet against 14 individuals, including the former Director General of the Department of Health Services, Sangeeta Kaushal Mishra, at the Special Court today. The allegations pertain to their involvement in corruption through the submission of fraudulent details and bills related to the procurement of a mammography machine for the department.
According to National News Agency Nepal, the CIAA has also implicated Dr. Shrawan Kumar Thapa, the former Director of the Management Division under the department, and Dr. Surendra Prasad Chaurasiya, the Chief of the Supply Management Section and a senior health administrator. Other accused include Dr. Bibek Kumar Lal, Director of the Department; Bhuwan Prasad Kafle, the former Chief Account Comptroller; Yadav Prasad Sapkota, the former section officer; Shambhu Prasad Dhakal, the former Account Officer; Tilak Ram Dhakal, the department’s Accountant; and Ashish Chauhan, a Biomedical Engineer of the department.
The charge-sheet also names Padma Mishra, the former biomedical engineer; Sanjay Kumar Sah, a Public Health Inspector at the department’s Central Store in Pathalaiya; Maxim Incorporation Pvt Ltd, and Sundar Bhusal of the company. The CIAA has sought a jail sentence for all accused, along with fines and compensation amounting to Rs 146 million each.
