Kathmandu: The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) has initiated legal proceedings against 55 individuals, including several former ministers, at the Special Court. This action follows allegations of corruption related to the construction of the Pokhara Regional Airport.
According to National News Agency Nepal, the CIAA has accused former Tourism and Civil Aviation Ministers Posta Bahadur Bogati, Ram Kumar Shrestha, Bhim Prasad Acharya, and Deepak Chandra Amatya of being involved in corrupt practices that resulted in the embezzlement of over Rs 8.36 billion. The charges are part of a broader investigation into financial misconduct during the airport’s construction.
Additionally, former Finance Minister Ram Sharan Mahat, along with former secretaries and the former Director General of the Civil Aviation Authority, Triratna Maharjan, Ratish Chandra Lal Suman, and Pradeep Adhikari, have also been named in the chargesheet. Ganesh Bahadur Adhikari, the assistant spokesperson for the commission, confirmed these details as part of the ongoing case against the accused individuals.
