Bardiya: The Ministry of Home Affairs has constituted a committee to investigate a reported suicide in Bardiya’s Badaiyatal-4, where a young woman allegedly took her life after failing to secure citizenship.
According to National News Agency Nepal, the Ministry has appointed Suresh Panthi, joint-secretary and Head of the Policy, Planning, Monitoring, and Evaluation Division, to lead the investigation. The decision was made following widespread concern and attention regarding the incident. Home Minister Om Prakash Aryal has emphasized the Ministry’s commitment to addressing the public’s worries by forming this committee.
The committee, led by Joint Secretary Panthi, will also include Under Secretary Kulashekar Aryal from the Ministry, along with an additional member. They have been given a five-day timeframe to carry out a thorough and unbiased investigation and present their findings.
Prime Minister Sushila Karki has instructed Home Minister Aryal to prioritize this issue, underscoring the government’s resolve to address the circumstances surrounding the incident.
