Communications Minister Gurung Emphasizes on Policy Structural Reforms for Development


Kathmandu: Minister for Communications and Information Technology, Prithvi Subba Gurung, has stated that the existing policy structures have hindered development in the country. At the fourth quarterly progress review of the last fiscal year 2081/82 and Ministry-level Development Action Committee meeting, Minister Gurung emphasized the importance of creating an enabling environment by reforming policy, rule, and legal frameworks.



According to National News Agency Nepal, the minister also underscored the necessity of reforming the civil administration mechanism and working style for institutional changes. He recommended learning from past experiences to achieve anticipated progress in future performances.



Member of the National Planning Commission, Prakash Shrestha, highlighted the importance of executing performance by effectively utilizing the allocated budget. Meanwhile, Communications Secretary Radhika Aryal asserted that the ministry has undertaken some significant policy initiatives.



Joint Secretary at the Ministry, Kosh Hari Niroula, presented the ministry’s work progress details during the meeting, which was attended by the heads of the agencies and departments of the ministry. Executive Chair of the Rastriya Samachar Samiti (RSS), Dharmendra Jha, announced plans to develop RSS as a media research center, noting its long history and role in documenting the history of journalism.
