Conservation of Snow Leopard Requires Investment: Minister Shahi.


Kathmandu: Forest and Environment Minister Ain Bahadur Shahi Thakuri has emphasized the need for increasing investment in the conservation of the snow leopard. Minister Shahi highlighted this during a conference aimed at promoting the conservation and research of snow leopards, which are gradually becoming rare.

According to National News Agency Nepal, Minister Shahi argued that intensive research on snow leopard habitats and conservation strategies is crucial. He stressed that the participation of local communities could serve as a sustainable measure to protect the snow leopard. Minister Shahi noted that the federal government has recognized the importance of local partnerships in the conservation of wild animals, including the snow leopard, and has formulated an action plan to collaborate with communities.

The government has recently released the snow leopard conservation action plan for 2024-2030. This plan outlines activities for the protection of the endangered species, including future strategies, ta
ctics, capacity building, and habitat improvement, among other initiatives.
