Kathmandu: Ncell Foundation has announced a philanthropic initiative tied to the Nepal Premier League (NPL) cricket tournament, pledging to donate educational materials to students in rural and remote areas of Nepal. For every four runs scored during the league, the foundation will provide these materials to community schools, aiming to enhance educational opportunities in underprivileged regions.
According to National News Agency Nepal, the initiative is a collaborative effort involving the Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN), local authorities, and other stakeholders. This partnership is part of Ncell’s broader commitment to corporate social responsibility, as articulated by Bishakha Lakshmi Khadka, Head of Corporate Communication and CSR at Ncell. She highlighted the unifying power of cricket and the foundation’s intent to make a positive impact on students’ lives through this initiative.
The partnership between CAN and Ncell extends to the organizational level of the NPL, where Ncell and Siddharth Bank s
erve as the ‘Powered By’ partners. This collaboration underscores the commitment of corporate entities to support both sports and educational development in Nepal.
In a related move, one of the franchise teams, Chitwan Rhinos, is offering logistical support to their fans. On match days, they will provide free bus services for supporters traveling from Chitwan to Kathmandu. Five buses will operate between Chitwan Medical College and Tribhuvan University cricket ground in Kirtipur to facilitate access for ticket-holding fans. Chitwan Rhinos are set to play their opening match against Kathmandu Gurkhas on December 2.
