Vice President Ramsahay Prasad Yadav has said Chure region must be conserved and managed effectively. Vice President Yadav said it while inaugurating a tree plantation programme at Kawasoti on Saturday.
Chure region is a sensitive ecological zone which warrants proper management and conservation, Vice President Yadav said, warning of gradual dryness and desertification for loss of water sources. “Chure is the source of water for Tarai/Madhes. Chure, Bhavar and Tarai/Madhes are interdependent,” he reminded and argued that once the source of water is depleted, the granary of Nepal- Madhes- will face dire consequences.
Moreover, the Vice President expressed worry that climate change and exhaustion of natural resources in Chure region had posed challenges to Chure conservation.
He also planted tree saplings on the occasion of 9th Chure Conservation Day organized with the coordination of Forest and Ecology Security Directorate. The programme was organized by the President Chure Tarai-Madhes Conservation Development Committee.
As many as 10,000 tree saplings would be planted as part of the celebration of the Day, it was informed.
