Parsa: Stakeholders and experts have emphasized the importance of considering both environmental and economic aspects in forest management. This was highlighted at a programme on Sustainable Forest Management organized by the Division Forest Office, Parsa.
According to National News Agency Nepal, speakers at the event stressed that forest resources should be evaluated from both environmental and economic perspectives. Prof Dr Rajesh Kumar Rai from the Institute of Forestry of TU emphasized the necessity of considering people’s livelihoods and the benefits they derive while addressing forest conservation issues. Prof Dr Rai stated that it is essential to utilize forests as a resource in forest management efforts.
Jagannath Prasad Jaisawal, Director at the Forest Directorate of Madhes Province, highlighted the need for sustainable management of forest resources and advocated for a collaborative approach to their conservation.
Additionally, Manjur Ahammad, Divisional Forest Officer of the Division Forest Office, Parsa, noted that leasehold and community forests are being prioritized in Parsa to enhance forest conservation efforts.
