Kathmandu: The Constitution Day and National Day, 2025 is being celebrated today with a series of organized programs. President Ramchandra Paudel is scheduled to grace the main function at the Army Pavilion in Tundikhel, Kathmandu, starting at 8:30 am. Newly-appointed Prime Minister of the Interim Government, Sushila Karki, will address the ceremony.
According to National News Agency Nepal, the usual procession and parade will not be part of the celebrations this year due to recent political circumstances. The Constitution of Nepal was officially proclaimed on 3rd Asoj 2072 (20 September 2015) by the Constituent Assembly, a result of the efforts and sacrifices of the Nepali people.
The Constitution, known as ‘The Constitution of Nepal, 2072’, was promulgated following the second round of elections to the Constituent Assembly, despite numerous challenges and disputes. The then President, Dr Ram Baran Yadav, had announced the promulgation of the Constitution from the Constituent Assembly meeting hall at the New Baneswor-based International Conference Centre in the evening of 3rd Asoj 2072 BS.
