Kathmandu: Minister for Physical Infrastructures, Kul Man Ghising, has mandated that the ongoing construction of the Federal Parliament building at the Singha Durbar premises must be completed by the upcoming December deadline.
According to National News Agency Nepal, Minister Ghising, who oversees the Ministry of Physical Infrastructure and Transport as well as the Urban Development Ministry, emphasized this directive during discussions with Secretary of Urban Development Ministry, Gopal Sigdel, consultants from the Special Building Construction Project and Coordination Office, and contractors. He stressed the urgency of advancing construction activities to ensure the completion of the Federal Parliament building within the stipulated timeframe.
Minister Ghising highlighted the absence of a parliament building following the destruction of the New Baneshwor-based Federal Parliament Building during a Gen-Z protest. He insisted that construction must not be delayed under any circumstances and urged all parties involved to take the matter seriously.
Additionally, the Minister called for the cessation of irregularities within agencies under his ministry, warning of immediate actions against those found engaging in such practices. He also emphasized the need for improvements in service delivery.
In a related move, Minister Ghising instructed the secretaries and departmental heads of the three ministries to compile and submit a list of dilapidated projects promptly. He expressed his intention to terminate contracts with contractors who fail to complete projects on time, suggesting the initiation of a new contract process to prevent projects from stagnating.
