Construction of Gautam Buddha International Cricket Stadium Reaches 40% Completion

Bharatpur: The construction of the Gautam Buddha International Cricket Stadium in Bharatpur has reached 40 percent completion, as reported by local authorities. The project, a collaborative effort between Bharatpur Metropolitan City and both provincial and federal governments, is progressing with significant developments on the parapet and the second floor of both towers.

According to National News Agency Nepal, Ghanashyam Mishra, an engineer with Bharatpur Metropolitan City, provided insights into the current phase of the project. Mishra reported that formwork and scaffolding for the parapet and towers are being secured, while the construction of the tower walls is actively ongoing. The towers, which will each consist of three floors, are part of an auditorium that includes four parapets and two towers.

Mishra also noted that plastering is currently underway for the rooms situated behind the parapet. Despite the presence of 122 workers on-site daily, the Tihar festival has caused a temporary reduction in workforce, with only 25-30 workers from the Muslim community available to continue the work. However, the pace of construction is expected to accelerate after the Chhath festival.

He acknowledged that, according to the contract agreement, 48 percent of the work was expected to be completed by this time, indicating a delay in the project’s timeline. The project was initially undertaken by the Dhurmus-Suntali Foundation but was later handed over to the Metropolitan authorities. The construction of the auditorium has been assigned to Himalayan Kalinchowk BBR JV.
