New Delhi: Construction of the Siliguri-Jhapa petroleum pipeline has been a focal point in the recent discussions between Minister for Industry, Commerce and Supplies, Damodar Bhandari, and India’s Minister for Petroleum and Natural Gas, Hardeep Singh Puri. The talks were held in New Delhi on Monday, focusing on issues of bilateral welfare and mutual interest.
According to National News Agency Nepal, Minister Bhandari is in the Indian capital to attend the Partnership Summit. During his visit, the two ministers discussed the construction of the Siliguri-Jhapa petroleum pipeline, the expansion of the Amalekhgunj-Chitwan petroleum pipeline, and the implementation of past agreements between the two countries.
The meeting also covered topics such as the construction of a gas pipeline in Sarlahi, the relocation of the petroleum depot at Tribhuvan International Airport, and agreements between the Indian Oil Corporation Limited and Nepal Oil Corporation. Minister Puri expressed India’s readiness to support these i
nitiatives once the integrated report from both corporations is received, as quoted by Minister Bhandari.
Both ministers agreed to hold regular meetings of the bilateral government mechanism to ensure continuous dialogue. The Indian side also reaffirmed its commitment to support Nepal’s socio-economic development.
