Dhaka: A court here today ordered the seizure of the income tax file of former law, justice, and parliamentary affairs minister Anisul Huq. Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Md Zakir Hossain Galib issued the order, acting upon a plea presented by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the court had previously, on January 20, shown Anisul arrested in connection to the case involving the accumulation of illegal wealth amounting to Taka 146.19 crore. He also faces allegations of making suspicious transactions totaling Taka 665.64 crore through 29 different bank accounts.
The case against Anisul was filed by ACC deputy director Md Jahangir Alam on January 1. The court has scheduled March 20 as the date for the submission of the probe report in this ongoing investigation.
