Kathmandu: In the wake of a corruption case filed by the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) against party Chairman Madhav Kumar Nepal, the CPN (Unified Socialist) has continued consultations with legal experts regarding the case.
According to National News Agency Nepal, the party consulted legal experts specifically on the topic relating to Patanjali land exchange. The discussion featured the legal remit and exercise in relation to Cabinet’s policy decisions, the intent behind the decisions related to the Patanjali land exchange case, current status following those decisions, and the legal provision applied during the process.
Party General Secretary Ghanashyam Bhusal shared information on the jurisdiction of the CIAA, the reasons for filing the case, and the legal remedies available were dwelt on during the consultation. He stated that the Court itself would determine the matter for it reached the judiciary and expressed confidence of justice through the court. The party indicated that the experts advised there were grounds to pursue legal remedies against the charges filed by CIAA.
CIAA had filed a case in the Special Court against Chairman Nepal and 93 others, accusing them of involving in the Patanjali land exchange and demanding recovery of over Rs 180 million.
