Kathmandu: The Kathmandu District Administration Office (DAO) has issued a curfew order in the Ring Road area of the Kathmandu Metropolitan City. Chief District Officer of Kathmandu, Chhabilal Rijal, announced the curfew starting from 8:30 am today, which will remain in effect until further notice. This action comes in response to demonstrations organized by ‘Gen Z’ groups that have resulted in disorder within the city.
According to National News Agency Nepal, the curfew has been enforced from the Balkumari bridge area to Koteshwor Chowk, covering key locations such as Sinamangal, Gaushala, Chabhil, Narayangopal Chowk, Gonggabu, Balaju, Swyambhu, Kalanki, and the Bagmati river bridge in Kathmandu. The curfew prohibits all forms of movement, gatherings, demonstrations, rallies, meetings, and picketing within these specified areas.
The DAO’s decision aims to maintain public order and prevent further unrest in the city.
