Pokhara: Daily life is gradually getting normal in Pokhara with the Gen Z protests calming down. Vehicular movement has increased on the roads here since this morning. The market has also seen rising mobility of the shoppers.
According to National News Agency Nepal, Chief District Officer of Kaski Rudradevi Sharma informed that travel has been relaxed in the morning hours. “A decision will be taken whether to impose stricter restrictions or to ease based on the situation until noon,” she said. CDO Sharma added, “Currently, security arrangements have been tightened in the district. However, travel has been eased in the morning and evening for essential works.”
Despite the easing of travel restrictions, a curfew has been clamped within the Pokhara Metropolitan area at night. The recent unrest saw incidents of arson and vandalism in most government buildings in Pokhara during the protests by the youth on September 8 and 9.
A huge damage was caused to dozens of government and private buildings, including the Gandaki Provincial Assembly building, provincial government ministries, district courts, district administration offices, Pokhara Metropolitan City, and ward offices.
