Kathmandu: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has stated that the opposition party’s demand for the resignation of Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak is unjust. This demand arose merely because questions were raised about an employee, and no formal charges or investigations are currently underway against the minister.
According to National News Agency Nepal, Prime Minister Oli addressed media personnel following the inauguration of the ‘Half Marathon’ organized by Kantipur Media Group. He emphasized that the opposition should not disrupt parliamentary proceedings with such baseless demands. He highlighted that unlike last year, when a similar demand was made against a then Home Minister who was under investigation by the CIB, there are no grounds for such a demand now.
Prime Minister Oli acknowledged the opposition’s right to voice demands and stage protests but insisted these must be based on legitimate reasons. He expressed concern that the opposition’s dislike for the current government might lead to increasingly unreasonable demands, including calls for the government’s resignation.
He urged party leaders to resolve internal disputes privately rather than airing them publicly. On the topic of the upcoming fiscal year’s budget presented to parliament, Oli described it as realistic and feasible, aimed at avoiding populism and instead focusing on substantial work. He warned against introducing a budget detached from reality, as it could lead to economic instability.
The Prime Minister also mentioned the government’s shift in focus towards social security and good governance, having already made significant progress in infrastructure development. During the event, he expressed gratitude to Kantipur Media Group for organizing the marathon, noting that sports serve as a unifying force and promote active lifestyles.
