District Security Committee Calls for Reforms in Juvenile Correction Centre.

Banke: The District Security Committee has recommended urgent reforms in the legal framework governing the child correction centre following repeated escapes by children involved in delinquent activities.

According to National News Agency Nepal, during a meeting held on Wednesday, the committee expressed concerns over the rising criminal activities attributed to the practice of housing adult child delinquents together. The meeting, led by Chief District Officer Khagendra Prasad Rijal, concluded with a decision to propose departmental action regarding the escape of three juvenile delinquents on November 11. Rijal highlighted the challenges faced by security personnel, who are prohibited from carrying arms and wearing uniforms within the child correction centres.

In a related development, the District Police Office reported that nine out of twelve juvenile delinquents had managed to escape from the correction home. The whereabouts of the three who initially escaped remain unknown.
