Kalikot: Preparation for the by-election has been completed at ward no-4 of Tilagupha municipality in Kalikot district. The ward is set to hold the election for the post of chairman on December 1. District Election Officer Dhan Bahadur Malla confirmed that all necessary arrangements have been made for the election process in Tilagupha-4. A voting officer, one assistant election officer, two employees, and an assistant have been mobilized to ensure a smooth polling process.
According to National News Agency Nepal, an all-party meeting was convened today to effectively implement the election code of conduct. The silence period, a crucial time frame where election campaigning is prohibited, is scheduled to begin Thursday night, as stated by the District Election Officer. In addition, the District Police Office has intensified security measures to ensure the safety and integrity of the election process. A total of 609 voters are registered to cast their votes at the designated voting center.
The election has at
tracted multiple candidates from various political parties. The Nepali Congress has put forward Pail Bahadur Shahi as their candidate for the ward chair position. Meanwhile, the CPN UML has nominated Ain Bahadur Shahi, the Nepal Workers and Peasant Party has fielded Khadka Bahadur Shahi, and the Rastriya Swatantra Party has chosen Gagan Bam as its representative. Additionally, Naishova Shahi is contesting from the CPN (Maoist Centre), as per the information provided by Laxman Bahadur Shahi, an information officer at the District Election Office.
This by-election was necessitated by the untimely demise of the former chairman of Tilagupha-4, Param Bahadur Shahi, who tragically lost his life in a landslide on October 10, 2022.
