Kathmandu: Security arrangements in all three districts of the Kathmandu Valley have been tightened amidst the demonstrations organized by the ‘Gen Z’ people today. Kathmandu Chief District Officer Chhabi Rijal stated that the necessary security arrangements were enforced since the morning amidst reports about the protest today.
According to National News Agency Nepal, a drone-assisted surveillance was put in place to avert any untoward incidents. “The protest is recorded, and it will help us take prompt measures if any unwanted situation arises,” said Rijal.
Spokesperson for the Kathmandu Valley Police Office in Ranipokhari, Senior Superintendent of Police Shekhar Khanal, confirmed reports that groups identifying as ‘Gen Z’ had gathered in the Maitighar area. “We have deployed security forces in a strategic manner,” he said.
It is reported that security surveillance throughout the valley has been heightened following reports that ‘Gen Z’ groups were protesting ‘restrictions’ imposed on social media.
