Lalitpur: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has stated that efforts are underway to advance society as a whole and promote national development. Addressing the inaugural session of the Eighth International Women’s Trade Fair in Lalitpur, PM Oli expressed his commitment to advancing development in the country without being hindered by obstacles. The Fair is organized by the Federation of Women Entrepreneurs’ Association of Nepal.
According to National News Agency Nepal, PM Oli highlighted that a particular group is attempting to hinder the country’s progress. He noted that 97% of the population now has access to electricity and that efforts are being made to increase power production. He expressed satisfaction with the younger generation’s enthusiasm and proficiency in information technology, emphasizing that the current era is dominated by computer and AI technology. He acknowledged the significant contributions made by women and urged the younger generation, particularly daughters, to focus on entrepreneurship. He expressed gratitude for the initiatives of the women involved.
PM Oli also stressed that the country cannot achieve development if women are left behind. He criticized the opposition parties for obstructing parliament with what he deemed unnecessary issues, such as the removal of a government employee, and expressed concern that this would disrupt the parliamentary schedule. He noted that while competent individuals in leadership roles were not acknowledged, those undeserving received undue praise. He warned against creating panic through protests and emphasized the importance of strategic projects.
On the occasion, PM Oli honored Anuradha Koirala, Chairperson of Maiti Nepal, for her work against human trafficking, and Prem Kumari Pun of Ghorahi, Dang, for her contributions to enterprise. Shova Gyawali, President of the Federation, revealed that district associations under the Federation have been established in 72 districts. The Federation continues to advocate for women’s entrepreneurship and address their concerns and challenges. The event, expected to generate transactions exceeding Rs 22.5 million, will run until March 31.
