Kathmandu: Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak has emphasized that autocracy is not a viable alternative to democracy. He stated that Nepalese society is deeply rooted in democratic values, making any regression to autocratic governance unacceptable. Minister Lekhak, who is also a prominent leader of the Nepali Congress, made these remarks during an interaction organized by his party’s constituency-3 working committee in Rupandehi. He reiterated that Nepal’s path is firmly set on democratic governance and there can be no turning back.
According to National News Agency Nepal, Minister Lekhak highlighted the strong belief of the Nepali people in democracy, which makes them resist any anti-democratic initiatives. He reaffirmed that Nepal is progressing under a democratic system despite acknowledging certain weaknesses in current governance delivery. Minister Lekhak stressed that the challenges faced by the people should not be exploited to undermine the democratic system.
