Kathmandu: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has extended his congratulations to the newly elected leadership of Press Chautari Nepal. At a meeting held at the PM’s official residence in Baluwatar, Prime Minister and Chairperson of the CPN (UML) Oli expressed that the unanimous selection of the central committee of Press Chautari sends a positive message.
According to National News Agency Nepal, Prime Minister Oli encouraged the new committee to continue engaging in professional, ideological, and organizational activities. He clarified that although he had been approached by aspirants for the leadership of Chautari, he maintained that the general convention should elect the leadership through consensus.
Prime Minister Oli emphasized the crucial role of the media sector in contributing to the nation’s prosperity and social harmony. He also warned against allowing any divisive ‘virus’ related to communal, ethnic, linguistic, regional, and gender issues to infiltrate the organization.
The new central committee, led by Ganesh Pandey, was elected during the 10th national general convention of Chautari recently held in Biratnagar. The event was attended by Chautari Chair Ganesh Pandey, former chairs Ganesh Basnet and Rajendra Aryal, and senior leader Bishwamani Subedi.
