Dolpa:Authorities have initiated rescue operations for six Indian tourists stranded in Dolpa’s Danigadh area following a severe snowstorm. The tourists became trapped while returning from a visit to Shey Phoksundo Lake.
According to National News Agency Nepal, Chief District Officer in Dolpa, Junu Hamal Dhakal, reported that the tourists—Momita Halder, Piyale Kole, Jajala Trib Kumar, Aditya Singh, Diplina Biswas, and Rajesh D—were caught in the blizzard over several days, interrupting their travel plans.
Efforts to rescue the group are ongoing, with a Nepali Army helicopter being deployed. However, communication with the tourists is hindered due to the lack of mobile network coverage in the area. Despite these challenges, army personnel stationed at Shey Phoksundo National Park have managed to maintain contact with them.
CDO Dhakal urged the public to exercise caution given the adverse weather conditions. She noted that the tourists proceeded to the lake despite travel restrictions placed on all trekkers since October 29.
